Is Grabpoints Legit or Scam? – Spent hours on this and here’s what I’ve Found
Like many people, from time to time I find myself spending a lot of time online. Watching videos, chatting with friends, scrolling my Facebook feed.
It would be great to get paid to do that. And that’s what sites like GrabPoints promise.
GrabPoints is a site that allows you to take surveys, download apps and games, and watch videos in exchange for points. You can then redeem those points for giftcards or Paypal payouts.
It sounds like a really good deal. But does the reality match the promise? This review will explain my experiences with GrabPoints and let you know if it’s a scam or a legitimate opportunity.
Is GrabPoints a Scam?
GrabPoints is not a scam. They are a legitimate GPT (Get Paid To…) website.
I can confirm that they do pay out if you earn points for completing their activities. In contrast to other, shadier GPT sites, GrabPoints is open with their information.
Their founders, Michael and Vikas, don’t have bad reputations, nor does their parent company, The Marketing Group (TMG).

However, just because GrabPoints isn’t a scam doesn’t mean there aren’t downsides and pitfalls, though.
And, if you’re looking to use GrabPoints to pay your bills you’re going to be disappointed.
To help you understand GrabPoints, I’ll walk you through how it works and the things you need to know.
How Does GrabPoints Work?
When you sign up for GrabPoints, you will be presented with a number of ways to earn Grab Points. The amount of points you can earn depends on the type of task you take.
Tasks can earn you anywhere from as little as 10 points to as many as 10,000 plus. 1,000 points equals $1, so keep that in mind when considering the point values.
Taking Surveys
GrabPoints doesn’t host their own surveys – They are partners with market research companies and other research-based firms. GrabPoints will link you up with these companies’ surveys, and you can earn around 500 to 2,500 points.
There are a few things to keep in mind about the surveys. Number one, survey opportunities can be limited, especially depending on your demographic info.
Number two, surveys almost always involve some screening questions at the beginning. If your answers aren’t what the survey is looking for, you will be terminated out of the survey and won’t earn points.
Number three, and this is a big one if you are considering GrabPoints for surveys: If the marketing companies don’t like your data, they might refuse the survey.
If you take a survey too fast, or if your answers don’t seem like you’re paying attention, this can get flagged. Sometimes surveys will include questions to check whether you’re paying attention. Giving inconsistent answers will get your data thrown out.
The same goes for if you use an automated program of any kind to take the survey.
The bottom line is that you need to be attentive when filling out the surveys if you want to get paid.
Downloading Apps
You can earn anywhere from around 100 to 500 points by downloading various apps through GrabPoints.
Many of these apps are games, so if you enjoy playing little app games this might be for you.
For some apps, simply downloading and signing into the app will earn you points. For many games, you’ll need to achieve a certain level to get paid.
Watching Videos
GrabPoints offers the opportunity to watch short videos to earn points. These videos tend to be 2 minutes or less, and you’ll earn about 10 points for watching.
This is probably the way to earn points with the least amount of effort. But you’re earning almost nothing for each video.
Signing Up For Websites
GrabPoints allows you to earn points by signing up for websites. This breaks down into two categories: Free sites and paid sites.
Free sites can earn you around 500 to 2,500 points. You’ll usually need to make an account and sign in to earn the points.
The paid sites are the biggest moneymakers GrabPoints offers. You can earn as much as 10,000 points.
However, to do so you will need to buy some product or sign up for a credit card trial.
Often times, you can cancel a purchase or credit card and not be charged money. But if you forget to do so, you could actually lose money with these offers.
Referrals and Promotions
GrabPoints also lets you earn points by promoting and referring other people to GrabPoints.
Promoting GrabPoints on social media and inviting friends earns you points, though not very many. Each invitation earns you 1 point regardless of whether the person joins.
If a person you refer joins and earns at least 1,000 points, you gain 500 points.
Referrals and promotions aren’t a big money maker. Though if you have a bunch of friends who would earn at least 1,000 points, you could make a few bucks.
How Much Money Can You Make with GrabPoints?
If you’re dreaming of making hundreds or thousands of dollars a month through GrabPoints, that’s not realistic.
The truth is that GrabPoints activities don’t pay very much for the time you spend on them.
Because you’re earning points rather than direct dollars, it can be hard to notice exactly what you make.
Let’s say you take a survey that takes you 20 minutes, then download a game and play for 40 minutes. You get 500 points for the survey and 500 points for each game. 1,000 points in total.
That translates to $1 for your hour spent on the GrabPoints activities.
Or maybe you watch 20 short videos over an hour. 20 videos earn you 10 points each. But that’s only 200 points, or $0.20.
The same holds true for all the activities on GrabPoints. You aren’t paid particularly well for your time.
Realistically, you might only make $100 a month on GrabPoints. And that’s with you spending many hours on it each day.
If you use GrabPoints casually, it is quite tough for you to hit $100 a month.
How Does GrabPoints Pay Out?
If you earn at least 3,000 points, you are eligible for a payout. You can get either giftcards or a Paypal payment.
Note that payout thresholds are different for different giftcards. For places like Walmart or Target, 10,000 points is the lowest payout. For Amazon, it’s 3,000 points. Paypal is 5,000 points.
You should receive your payout around 72 hours after requesting it.
Important Fineprint
GrabPoints has a number of details to their offer, some of which can trip you up if you’re not careful.
The biggest one is that if you don’t complete a GrabPoints activity for 30 days, you lose your points. And that 30 day activity threshold doesn’t include promotion and referral.
So, if you earn a bunch of points but don’t cash out, you could lose it all. If you decide to sign up with GrabPoints, make sure to stay active or cash out.
There’s really no reason for GrabPoints to have this policy other than to avoid payouts. But it’s not directly illegal or a scam.
Is GrabPoints Worth It?
The answer to this question depends on what you’re looking for. But the short answer is that it’s probably not worth the time.
If you’re looking to spend some time online and make a few extra bucks, GrabPoints can help you. The activities aren’t difficult, and they really do pay out.
But completing surveys is a frustrating process at times because many terminate due to screening questions. And availability isn’t always great.
Watching videos pays next to nothing. Downloading apps can be time-consuming to reach level requirements. Signing up for websites is also time consuming.
In all cases, the amount of time you put into it will net you only a few dollars an hour. And that’s if you’re lucky.
In most cases, you will probably make no more than $1 per hour.
You can’t rely on GrabPoints to be a substantial part of your income. That’s not how the site is designed. Going into GrabPoints with that expectation will leave you disappointed.
If you’re looking to make money online, there are far more productive ways than GrabPoints.
